This technical note describes how to resolve the "Cannot find Autodata e0209" error message that may occur even if Autodata e0209 is properly connected.
Important note for Windows 10 users who have recently upgraded to version 1803 (or have Windows Update installed)
If you found Autodata e0209 before upgrading to Windows 10 version 1803, but now with error -12007, please contact PLS Technical Support for instructions on resolving issues in Windows 10 version 1803.
Install the Autodata e0209 driver
Our software requires the Autodata e0209 driver to be installed before the Autodata e0209 can be found. The driver is included on the installation CD, but if for some reason you don't have it, you can follow the Internet installation instructions below to download it. If you have already installed the driver and have not found Autodata e0209, skip to the "Troubleshooting" section below. The installation process is as follows:
CD installation
Unplug all Autodata e0209 that may be connected to your computer.
Log in to an account with administrator privileges (Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 require drivers to be installed).
Run the setup.exe program in the root directory of the CD. If your computer supports autoplay, it will automatically run for you.
Check the "Install Autodata e0209 Driver" checkbox and press the "Install" button. You do not need to check any other options or programs unless you have not installed them.
Follow any instructions given.
Restart the system when prompted.
Insert Autodata e0209.
The program originally provided you with the "Cannot find Autodata e0209" error. If the error still occurs, see the "Troubleshooting" section below.
Internet installation
Unplug all Autodata e0209 that may be connected to your computer.
Log in to an account with administrator privileges
Now run the Sentinel installation software (sentinel.exe) that you downloaded in the previous step and follow these steps:
Click next
Click Next again
Choose I accept, then choose Next
Select Complete and then choose Next
Click to install
Click to finish
Restart the system if required.
Insert Autodata e0209.
The program originally provided you with the "Cannot find Autodata e0209" error. If the error still occurs, see the "Troubleshooting" section below.
Troubleshooting hardware critical issues
If your program displays the "Cannot find Autodata e0209" error message, you should check and/or try the following:
If the Autodata e0209 driver has not been installed, follow the steps in the previous section to install it.
Download and run Sentinel Advanced Medic, which may provide some useful diagnostic information.
If Autodata e0209 is already installed, you can use the following procedure to verify that it is set up correctly:
The Sentinel installation software located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel System Driver\SetupSysDriver.exe is run by default
Sentinel system driver
The installed driver version should be at least 7.5. If a smaller version is installed (shown above), follow the instructions in the Internet installation to upgrade.
If you have the parallel port Autodata e0209, please contact Power Line Systems Technical Support by email for a replacement.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Power Line Systems Technical Support for assistance. Include a screenshot showing the About dialog and a second screenshot showing the error message you received when trying to run the software (you can paste the resulting image by pressing the Print Screen button and then using Edit/Paste) Take a screen capture into an email or image editing program).
Upgrade the Sentinel driver to get a new version
Version 10.03 of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and TOWER requires a new Autodata e0209 driver version. If you have an older driver version installed (pre-Sentinel System Driver 7.5 was released before March 2009), you will need to upgrade the Autodata e0209 driver. You can download new drivers from our website at http://www.powline.com/files/sentinel.exe. After the file is on the computer, unplug all Autodata e0209, run the "sentinel.exe" installer, and select the "Upgrade" and "Finish" installation options when prompted. You will need administrative privileges to complete this process. When you are done, you may need to restart your computer, reinsert Autodata e0209, and then find Autodata e0209.
